PTB library at the Berlin site receives permission for German interlibrary loan system

18.10.2010

The PTB library at the Berlin site receives permission for German interlibrary loans as an independently eligible library and is connected to the online interlibrary loan system in the Common Library Network (GBV). Due to the fact that - after completion of the "ZDB Project" (see notice of 20-09-2010) - now not only the more recent monograph stock but also the complete journal collection of the PTB library in Berlin can be researched via the online-catalogue of the Common Library Network (GBV), the library was granted the permission for German interlibrary loans from the library network of Berlin-Brandenburg. This also cleared the way for its connection to the interlibrary loan system within the scope of the GBV. Requests are handled more rapidly within the electronic interlibrary loan system than before in the hardcopy form to which the library was bound before it was recognized as an independent library in the interlibrary loan system. The customers of the library within PTB and cooperating libraries benefit from the shorter request-processing times as full-text documents (books, essay copies) are delivered faster.
