A three year collaborative project between European National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) to develop metrological traceability for the measurement of the mechanical properties (adhesion, stiffness and elasticity) of nano-objects.

The project will develop new test standards for determining the mechanical properties of nanoparticles, nanowires and nanoscale structures and composite materials using atomic force microscopy (AFM). Forces from 10 mN down to 10 pN will be applied to objects with sizes down to 50 nm.
