    2.3.1 Specify the characteristics of the service

    Specify the characteristics of the service to be developed according to the results of the needs assessment and the strategic planning.

    The characteristics of the service to be defined are:

    • name of the service,
    • users to be addressed,
    • objective,
    • scope (scope of the consultancy, level of training, range and uncertaintity for calibration).

    Get approval and support from the Director.

    2.3.2 Identify the core elements for the project success

    Identify, jointly with your Director and colleagues, the core elements for the project success.

    Example of core elements could be:

    • Awareness Raising.
    • Coaching.
    • Strengthen the infrastructure of the lab for calibration services.
    • Involvment of the Ministry.
    • Take part or be included in the NMI strategy plan.
    • Support of external organizations (chamber, agencies, etc).
    • Find a NMI partner for accomplishing the objectives.

    After selecting the core elements, develop an operational plan considering the different elements.

    2.3.3 Develop a 2-3 year workplan

    Define a plan for 2 or 3 years including general milestones every 6 or 12 months.

    The plan may include:

    • Milestones and general activities.
    • Outcome/products.
    • Responsible parties.
    • Period.
    • Resources.

    2.3.4 Develop a 6-12 month workplan

    Every 6 months define a workplan based on the 2-3 year workplan and adapt it to the current situation during the implementation. You can prepare this plan for 12 months also.

    The plan may include:

    • Activities.
    • Outcome.
    • Responsibilities.
    • Period (start-end).
    • Budget.
    • Comments.
