The Project: Metrology User Relations
The Professional Development Committee from SIM and the International Technical Cooperation (PTB) promoted and supported, since March 2009, a project with the following objectives.
- Raise the awareness about the NMI’s relevance for metrology users (e.g. industry, commerce and service sector).
- Strengthen the relation between the NMI and the users of metrological services through the development of particular metrology services.
This project was named ‘NMI-Metrology User Relations’ and has detonated the creation and consolidation of the following services: consultancy, training and (group) calibration.
Three Working Groups (WG) were created during the Project (Consultancy, Training and Calibration). The groups are composed of NMI representatives from the SIM (Interamerican Metrology System) region; they shared two collaborative and fruitful working years from March 2009 to May 2011.
The Project has been supported by SIM, the International Technical Cooperation from PTB (Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt – Germany Metrology Institute), the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO, Brazil), the Centro Nacional de Metrología de México (CENAM, México) and the Organisation of American States (OAS).
