The blended learning course Quality Infrastructure for Sustainable Development (QuISP) is now available for candidates from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The course is implemented by Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) within the scope of the technical cooperation with the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

This course introduces the main disciplines of quality infrastructure and how they interact: metrology, standardization, conformity assessment, accreditation and market surveillance. Topics such as technical regulations, trade agreements, and regional economic integration will be discussed as well.

The objective of the blended learning course is to:

  1. enhance the general understanding of the important economic role these disciplines of quality infrastructure play, and
  2. improve skills and abilities in dealing with standards-related subjects in the context of international and regional trade negotiations.

The course consists of a kick-off workshop from 25 to 28 February 2019 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, followed by a four-month e-learning phase (from your office or from home, with an internet-ready computer) and a final workshop that will be held from 1 to 5 July 2019 in Germany, in the cities of Braunschweig and Berlin.

The course is free of charge, PTB will sponsor the participation in the kick-off and final workshop events for participants from the SAARC member nations.
