The project coordinators, Thomas Wiedenhöfer (PTB) and Sascha Eichstädt (PTB), outlined the overall idea of the collaboration of the two projects: Met4FoF will bring uncertainties to the factory of the future and SmartCom will make sure that this and other metrological information are communicated reliably.
The Met4FoF project is divided into three technical work packages:
- WP1 will develop a calibration framework for digital sensors. During the meeting the largest partners in this WP – PTB and INRIM – outlined their ideas of a digitally enhanced calibration laboratory.
- WP2 aims at a mathematical framework for the evaluation and propagation of uncertainties in an industrial IoT environment. NPL is leading that work package and presented their vision of mathematical modelling for metrology in the IoT.
- WP3 is organised around the three project testbeds. SPEA presented their facilities for MEMS automated testing with focus on temperature. ZeMA outlined their electromechanical cylinder testbed for condition monitoring. University Strathclyde showed their forming manufacturing testbed with focus on process optimisation
In order to ensure the practical uptake of the project outcomes by industrial end users, a Stakeholder Advisory Board is formed jointly with SmartCom. During the kick-off meeting the first three Letter of Agreement where signed with TNO (Netherlands), SPEKTRA (Germany) and Myna-Project (Italy). More will follow soon.
