Preparing for the second half of the project’s lifetime
The IEEE International Instrumentation & Measurement Technology Conference (I²MTC) tooks place from 20th May to 23th May at the Grand Millennium in Auckland. Partners from Met4FoF presented to the audience the project's aims and preliminary results.
The GFM SKK10/R radial forge will be used as the AFRC testbed. The machine is a reinforced version of the standard SKK10 and can forge parts with max starting diameter of 125mm down to 25mm on a wide range of different materials. Max forging force is 150tons. Parts can be forged from room temperature up to 1200 deg C.

The project EMPIR Met4FoF has successfully finished its first quarter and has made very good progress and the first 9 months. This post outlines a couple of the early developments and preliminary results. Overall, this first period laid the foundation for a further successful development of the project.
During a two-day project meeting at NPL, UK in January 2019, the project consortium made a number of important decisions that pave the way for the next steps in the project.
