Domino effects and hydrogen: still known unknowns?

Kolloquium der Abteilung 3

Domino effects refer to any accident in which a primary event propagates to nearby equipment or asset, triggering one or more secondary events with overall consequences at least as severe as primary event. The analysis of those dramatic events is mandatory since 1982, according to Seveso Directives for the control of major accidents and relevant risk industries. To this aim, several methodologies have been developed in the last decades. However, the overwhelming arrival of the hydrogen economy arises some questions about the ability of this over-reactive gas to generate secondary events.
