Zusammenfassung: The use of permanent magnets (PMs) in the modern motor and generator industry to achieve high performance and high efficiency has increased rapidly. Due to high eddy current loss, the high temperatures that permanent magnets (PMs) can reach increase the chances that thermal demagnetization will take place, resulting in a completely irreversible loss of magnetic properties. To measure the eddy current loss in PMs in the presence of an external magnetic field, which is similar to operating a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM), a closed-loop magnetic measurement system is designed, developed and manufactured. With this symmetrical closed magnetic measurement system, the loss of the PM is measured with varying frequency. Different shapes and sizes of PMs used in the PMSM in this measurement setup are evaluated. The most promising improvements in magnetic loss measurement are analyzed and investigated.
