Determining spectral reference line parameters of molecules: EUMETRISPEC 1

01.10.2019

Continuing the work after the EMRP-project EUMETRISPEC, we have generated a coherent spectral reference dataset for the important atmospheric greenhouse gas nitrous oxide (N2O). Line parameters, which were measured by FTIR spectroscopy, can be used by remote sensing facilities for measuring N2O concentration in the Earth’s atmosphere. Since the new dataset has not only the advantage of a metrological determination method, but also shows an order of magnitude lower uncertainties, it means an important contribution to the improvement of reliability and accuracy of N2O remote sensing measurements. In the course of the above mentioned determination of N2O line parameters a PhD thesis was written in the working group 3.22 “spectrometric gas analysis” with the title “Highly accurate, FTIR-based and metrological determination of line intensity, air- and self-induced pressure broadening and pressure shift in the 2.26 µm band of 14N216O for atmospheric diagnostic applications” (Opens external link in new windowhttps://publikationsserver.tu-braunschweig.de/receive/dbbs_mods_64876).
