On everybody’s lip but without the bite - the current state of trustworthy AI

Kolloquium der Abteilung 8

The rapid evolution and integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into many domains has brought to the forefront a pressing need for its trustworthiness. While the global community agrees that trustworthy AI is based on a set of guiding principles, there exists a tangible gap in translating these ideals into actionable practical requirements. This ambiguity is not only a source of confusion and stifles innovation but also risks unintended consequences in real-world applications. The talk delves into this challenge, shedding light on the latest developments aimed at operationalizing the principles of trustworthy AI. Additionally, the discussion will also touch upon the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between policymakers, industry leaders, and academia, to support the development of the next generation of AI systems.
