Smart City

The city as a living space has experienced major changes in recent decades. The challenges in terms of climate protection, sustainable coexistence, interconnection and digital transformation are decisive for our future. In the city of the future, supply networks should be designed as a sustainable collective system in which AI helps to assure quality, identify saving potentials and take action in accordance with society’s wishes.

Interoperable sensors and data formats enable synergies between different sensor networks. Environmental data such as temperature and pollutant and greenhouse gas concentrations provide input for consumption forecasts and serve as indicators for monitoring the effects of smart concepts on the environment and on our quality of life.

Researchers investigating the smart city aspects at the IZSM work together with industry, regulators and society at large in a cross-disciplinary way to ensure the levels of quality, security and safety needed for sustainable coexistence.
