VirtMet 2021: Workshop on digital twins and virtual measurement devices

We increasingly see simulations, virtual experiments, digital twins and machine learning methods as new standard in many areas. This concerns both industrial applications and research. From the point of view of quality assurance, this results in overriding questions:

1. How do we ensure confidence in simulation results?

2. How do we establish comparability of virtual and real measurements?

3. Which standards for interfaces, metadata and data formats are necessary?

These questions must be addressed promptly, especially in view of the rapidly advancing digitalization.

For this reason, the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt is organizing the 1st international workshop "Metrology for virtual measuring instruments" (VirtMet). This workshop is organised by the PTB competence centre Opens internal link in current windowVirtMet.

Contributions (1-2 pages) on the following topics can be submitted until 21 May 2021 via e-mail to Opens window for sending emailVirtMet(at)ptb.de:

  • Simulations, virtual experiments, digital twins in metrology, quality assurance, industrial applications
  • Example applications
  • Sensors and methods for parameterization
  • Software architectures for digital twins
  • Validation, calibration and standardization
  • Use of machine learning and artificial intelligence methods

The workshop will be organized as a hybrid event. That is, you can attend in person at PTB Berlin physically or via a web-based platform virtually. Of course, you will get the most out of the event when participating physically in Berlin.
