Die PTB-Bibliothek beteiligt sich an der Initiative "Nationale Forschungsdateninfrastruktur" (NFDI) durch Mitarbeit im NFDI-Verein, in dessen Sektionen und in den relevanten Fachkonsortien.
Die Arbeitsgruppe „Metadata4Ing“ hat unter Beteiligung der PTB-Bibliothek ein Metadatenschema zur Beschreibung naturwissenschaftlicher und ingenieurwissenschaftlicher Forschungsdatensätze sowie deren Entstehungsprozesses erstellt.
Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter der PTB-Bibliothek koordinieren für die PTB intern das Forschungsdatenmanagement. Seit Jahresbeginn 2019 haben sie auch zum Aufbau des NFDI4Phys-Konsortiums beigetragen und an dessen Förderantrag mitgearbeitet.
