IP-Based Dissemination of Time

Time synchronization of computers using the "Network Time Protocol" (NTP)

Time Zone Information:

• For synchronization, NTP uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). The legal time effective in Germany is Central European Time (CET) and Central European Summer Time (CEST). CET and CEST are linked to UTC via following relations: CET = UTC + 1h and CEST = UTC + 2h.

NTP Software:

• PTB has the NTP software package version 4.3 installed. This software package implements version 4 of the NTP protocol.

External Clocks:

• The time servers are synchronized - independent of GPS - to UTC (PTB) by PTB's atomic clocks.
