Christoph Stefan Aigner, Sebastian Dietrich, Tobias Schaeffter and Sebastian Schmitter (PTB) have published a new article in MRM: Calibration-free pTx of the human heart at 7T via 3D universal pulses.
This study investigates the feasibility of using precalculated universal pulses for a calibration-free homogeneous 3D flip angle distribution in the human heart at 7T. The proposed universal pulse provides low B1+ variations in all subjects, seen and unseen, without strong signal drops. Experimental data at 7T acquired with the universal pulse show comparable image quality to data acquired with tailored pulses, demonstrating successful calibration-free pTx measurement of the human heart at 7T.
