Profile
The research focus of the group is the development and application of numerical methods for metrology.
A main area of interest is the treatment of statistical inverse problems which require the solution of partial differential equations (PDEs). A key problem here is the very high computational cost, which often makes it unfeasible to solve the inverse problem in a reasonable time. For this purpose, different methods of Uncertainty Quantification, Bayesian Inversion and Machine Learning are used in the applications. The application areas are:
- Optics and nanometrology
- Electrophysiology of the heart
- Inverse problem in hemodynamics
