Single-Trial Analysis for MEG and EEG

10/2007 - 09/2010

Methods for the analysis of electro-encephalogram (EEG) or magneto-encephalogram (MEG) recordings are developed with the aim to allow for an improved understanding of the underlying physiological processes in the brain. Focus is the improved single-trial analysis of data from stimulus experiments. Basis for the development are blind source separation methods such as independent component analysis which are adapted to the case of dependent sources as is expected in the case of stimulus experiments. These methods are then combined with single-trial procedures to improve current single-trial analyses and to allow for an inference of the relationship between on-going brain activities and evoked responses.
