Multicellular organization by a non-diffusible signal: Mathematical and experimental analysis of morphogenetic cell movements in myxobacteria

The main objective of this project is the construction and quantitative analysis of mathematical models describing the stages of development towards a three-dimensional fruiting body starting from individual cells. Model predictions will be validated in experiments with aggregates of myxobacteria. A particular goal is to explore how non-diffusible morphogens induce and organize collective cell movements.
