In addition to PTB, six other metrology institutes as well as several industrial partners and universities are involved in the EMPIR project "Metrology infrastructure for high-pressure gas and liquified hydrogen flows". The aim of the project is to ensure traceability for various hydrogen applications. For this purpose, critical nozzles are to be established as the standard when using hydrogen at high pressure (up to 1000 bar). In working group 8.41, flow simulations are carried out with the open-source software package OpenFOAM. In order to be able to make realistic predictions for hydrogen at the high pressures that occur, the models used in the flow solver should be expanded accordingly.
