The impact of temperature on thermal fluctuations in magnetic nanoparticle systems

It should not come as a surprise that temperature has an influence on the thermal magnetic noise of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). But the question of quantifying its effect on the noise recorded from an ensemble of magnetic nanoparticles requires a surprisingly complex answer.

Recently, a study of WG 8.23 in collaboration with the Dynamat group of Ghent University (Belgium) was published where the impact of temperature on the signal of thermal noise of MNPs was investigated [1]. A model is constructed and compared with numerical and experimental results. Depending on the fluctuation mechanism, a different dependency of the fluctuation amplitude and timescale is found.
