For the production of high-precision work pieces a "Jig Grinder" is used. Main tasks are the processing of high-precision calibration and the production of complex geometries for use in metrology, mostly from brittle materials. Semiconductor materials such as silicon and germanium single crystals require high cutting speeds in the grinding process. To achieve this, are air- and electric-powered high-speed grinding spindles available.
For cylindrical grinding and face grinding more highly accurate machines are available.
