R&D project

Traceable 3D evaluation of complex rotationally symmetric geometries

Period of the project

Start:  May 2015
End:   February 2017

Description of the project

The aim of this research project is to develop a traceable calibration method for areal inspection of complex rotationally symmetric geometries. It is of particular interest to detect periodic deviations which may result from pitch error and reeling as well as eccentricity. The interesting deviations cannot be characterised using state of the art procedures for measurements which only refer to specific lines and points on the surface.

At the end of the project the users of the new strategy will be able to parameterise the captured structures by a software module which performs a robust and quick evaluation of the measurement points. Furthermore, the software module will estimate the uncertainties for the new defined geometry parameters. The novel measuring procedures shall be transferred into calibration services and standardization bodies. For this purpose, basic documents will be written and presented in the important committees.
