R&D project

Software-based determination and application of quality measures in dimensional computed tomography - CT-QM

Period of the project

Start: January 2013
End:  June 2015

Description of the project

The goal of the project is the development and application of functions for the evaluation and improvement of the reliability of dimensional measurements with industrial computed tomography (CT).

Currently, there are no methods and tools for three-dimensional voxel data that allow evaluating the reliability of industrial CT measurements. The uncertainty about the deviation between the surface computed from the data and the real surface of an object is currently not considered in industrial CT due to this lack of mathetical procedures and implementations.

The work required for the project comprises fundamental mathematical research about quality measures, the implementation of basic software building blocks as well as the development of a software prototype for realistic tests.

Funding for the project is provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in the context of the program "KMU-innovativ".
