Profile

Examination and assessment of explosion protected equipment are performed in several divisions of PTB and also with external co-operation partners.
The procedures required for an efficient and complete handling are developed and implemented in this working group.

This working group does not provide research and development. Research and development in the field of explosion protection is carried out in the respective departments 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7.

Conformity assessments of equipment and protective systems intended for the application in potentially explosive atmospheres on the basis of the European Directive 2014/34 EU and according to the IECEx-system.
