Details about the collaboration on type examinations of moisture meters for cereal grain and oilseeds

Parallel to filing an application for conformity assessment in accordance with Module B of the Measures and Verification Ordinance (MessEV) at PTB, the following steps are envisaged:

  • The applicant tasks DLG with the checking of the calibrations. Details of the contract regarding the tests to be conducted are settled between both of the contract partners. The applicant should contact DLG by 31 March of each year, if possible, so that DLG is able to plan work during the coming harvest.
  • The extent of DLG's testing will be agreed with the applicant and with PTB.
  • The applicant will provide DLG with a measuring instrument containing the current version of the calibrations to be tested.
  • In principle, approx. 30 ideally freshly harvested crop type samples are required for the tests; these must differ in terms of moisture content, type and origin. The moisture content of these samples is determined both with the measuring instrument to be tested and according to the respective ISO reference method.
  • DLG and PTB are in contact during testing in order to recognize possible problems and defects early on and rectify them.
  • The evaluation and the assessment of the measurement results are carried out by PTB. For this purpose, DLG provides the measurement data directly to PTB.
  • After successfully completed tests, the measurement values are included in the assessment documents for the certificate of conformity assessment according to Module B.
