High-Frequency Base Quantities

Working Group 2.22


The main task of working group “High-Frequency Base Quantities” is the development of national standards, measurement setups, and measurement techniques for the following high frequency quantities:

Currently, calibrations are carried out in the frequency range 1 MHz to 110 GHz. Using HF power reference standards, HF transfer standards of accredited calibration laboratories and national metrology institutes as well as measurement equipment from industry and research laboratories are calibrated. This is performed with highest accuracy in different coaxial and waveguide systems. The applied measurement methods are state-of-the-art techniques, as they are applied in a similar manner in other leading national metrology institutes. Another important task of the working group is the assessment of DAkkS-accredited calibration laboratories.

The Working group is constantly working on an extension of the calibration in the frequency range of the millimeter waves above 50 GHz by developing new calibration equipment, transfer standards and calibration. Furthermore, there is a continuous cooperation with the industry in the context of research and development projects in the field of precision high-frequency metrology.
