Kick-Off Meeting of EMPIR project ACQ-PRO

24.11.2015

PTB hosts kick-off meeting with two days of hands-on training sessions on six different AC quantum voltage standards.

The Kick-off meeting for the EMPIR Project ACQ-PRO, “Towards the propagation of AC Quantum Voltage Standards“, took place in Braunschweig in the week from 22 June to 26 June 2015. The project will enable a number of National Metrology Institutes (NMI) to access AC quantum voltage standards and reduce the technological gap between NMIs. The project will also establish the basis for future collaborations between the eleven participating NMIs in the area of AC quantum voltage standards.
Two days of the Kick-off meeting were devoted to hands-on training of the participants on six different experimental set-ups based on Josephson arrays that are operated at PTB. The participants were split into groups of three or four researchers, who then spent two hours working on each of the six systems. The training sessions provided a “first hand” experience for the participants, often for the first time, of the possibilities that become available with an AC quantum voltage standard.
