CIPM Key Comparisons for natural gas up to 40 bar completed and published

10.10.2006

The successfully conducted CIPM Key Comparisons for natural gas at high pressure have shown the identity of the harmonized European natural gas cubic metre with the CIPM Key Comparison reference value.

The main focus of the gas department in 2006 has been the realization and dissemination of the unit fluid flow volume of natural gas at high pressures.
Priority was given to activities concerning the Key Comparisons in this field. The department gas flow has piloted three international comparisons. Two of the three comparisons are completed and the measurement protocols are published at the BIPM database:

The report of CCM.FF-KC5a documents the equivalence (identity) of the European harmonized reference value of Germany, France and the Netherlands with the CIPM Key Comparison reference value (KCRV). The protocol describes the detailed complete uncertainty analysis of the harmonized European natural gas cubic metre which is already being disseminated by the three European national metrology institutes since November 2004 to all customers.
