Type examinations of sound calibrators

 

 

In Germany, sound calibrators applied for calibration of sound level measuring devices for common control purposes in the fields of occupational safety or environmental protection are subject to verification. Before placing them on the market they have to undergo type examinations under German law. This is based on the standard DIN EN 60942:2003, which includes requirements, tolerance limits and test procedures. One of the tasks of Section 1.61 is to perform and evaluate these tests.

Due to administrative regulations foreign applicants are generally asked for pre-payment.

For the testing we need five specimen with all accessories (cables, adaptors, etc.) and a manual in German. The pattern must be so designed that continuous operation is enabled (no automatic switch-off).

The processing time for regular cases is three months.

Subsequent changes of an approved type usually result in a supplement of the certificate.
