Liquid Meters

Working Group 1.51

Profile

If liquids are sold or accepted in the course of trade, they are subject to legal control in accordance with the Measures and Verification Act [1] and the Measures and Verification Ordinance [2]. All tasks associated with PTB in this context - conformity assessment and / or certification of the corresponding measuring instruments, regulation and standardization committee work as well as consulting - are dealt with in working group 1.51 "Liquid Meters".

Services

Conformity Assessment and Certification

PTB is a notified body for the European Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32 / EU. Working Group 1.51 is responsible for the conformity assessment of measuring instruments of Annexes III (water meters) and VII (measuring systems for liquids other than water) of the Directive.

In addition, the tasks of the working group include the conformity assessment of nationally regulated measuring instruments for liquids at rest, fuel dispensers for high-pressure natural gas and high-pressure hydrogen as well as additional equipment to measuring instruments according to the Measures and Verification Ordinance

Calibration of pipettes

Furthermore, working group 1.51 is responsible for the realization and dissemination of the volume of liquids at rest. As part of the international harmonization of liquid measurements, comparative measurements are also carried out by means of static volume standards (calibration flasks and pipettes).

The working group's pipette test bench uses distilled water and is designed for volumes between 1 l and 50 l. The extended measurement uncertainty of the test stand of 0.004 % has been repeatedly verified by international comparisons.
