PTB Science Blog

It all started with Rieke Schäfer's Expedition Blog. Rieke Schäfer, who is 26 years young, is a doctoral student at PTB and at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel. For two months (from April to June, 2023), she was swapping her laboratory workstation at PTB for the German research vessel Sonne (which is the German for “sun”), where she was soon finding her sea legs. This voyage took her thousands of kilometers along the equator from Ecuador, with the final port of call being in Australia. And anyone who wanted to follow her journey could do so by following this blog - and still can do. You could also find out about her expedition on our LinkedIn channel. And now we continue with blog posts from PTB's focus topic of health: on a very special fire drill - this time in English.

Einvironment and Climate: The Expedition Blog

From April to June 2023, PTB doctoral student Rieke Schäfer blogged here about her experiences on the research vessel "Sonne" - directly from the equator!
