Integrating spheres are used to measure luminous flux; the same applies to the transmission measurement of microscope lenses. These transmission measurements can now be made more accurate thanks to a new additional element. The special insert developed at PTB serves as an adaptor between the aperture of the integrating sphere and the lens. Thanks to the insert, the lens is no longer in the critical range of the sphere and thus hardly generates any parasitic reflection at all. Luminous flux can now be measured with far less distortion, which makes the transmission measurement considerably more accurate.
