Differential gradiometer

Sensors for investigating the gravitational field of the Earth are used in various fields of geodesy, geophysics and gravimetry. PTB has developed a high-sensitivity differential gradiometer for measuring density inhomogeneities in the surface of the Earth. Conceived as a null indicator, this gradiometer is particularly well suited to determining vertical gravitational gradients while remaining insensitive to disturbing influences caused by linear gravitational gradients and by absolute gravitational acceleration.
