This year, PTB was evaluated for the second time by the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat). The evaluation committee also focused their attention on the continued development in the nine years since the previous evaluation took place.

As part of its evaluation of PTB, the Wissenschaftsrat (German Council of Science and Humanities) visited both of PTB’s sites in September 2016.

After PTB had provided a comprehensive report to the Council of Science and Humanities in the form of a completed questionnaire at the beginning of the year, a three-day visit by the Council took place at PTB’s Braunschweig and Berlin sites in October. During this visit, the activities of the specialized laboratories were presented and conversations with representatives of various stakeholder groups were held in order to provide a detailed look at the technical and strategic position of PTB. The evaluators from the Council of Science and Humanities were impressed by and enthusiastic about the work results that were presented; this reaction was due not least to the great engagement and motivation of all the participants contacted by the committee. The final report is expected for publication in April 2017.
