Praise for European metrology

European Commission report evaluates joint European metrology research positively - PTB participating in nearly all projects

08.05.2012

European metrology institutes are increasingly succeeding in pooling their expertise and research activities to be able to meet the grand challenges in technology, the economy and health care better. A European Commission interim report on a joint research programme comes to this conclusion. The programme, coordinated and organized by EURAMET e.V., started in 2009; in it institutes from 22 countries have jointly undertaken research in 65 projects to date. The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the largest of these partners. The Commission finds the research programme to be well managed and increasingly well integrated in a research landscape which was - until recently - hardly European but instead mainly oriented and structured at national level.
