New mirror concept makes the manufacturing of frequency-stable lasers simpler
PTB seeking a partner company to exploit a PTB patent
18.11.2009
A novel mirror concept, which has been developed at PTB and has already been patented, allows Fabry Perot resonators to be operated at room temperature without thermal noise becoming a problem. The new concept makes the manufacturing of frequency-stable lasers easier. Interesting applications are: the realization of optical clocks, the transmission of frequencies in communications engineering or ultraprecision spectroscopy.
