The calibration of transformers is made easier

PTB advises in matters of electricity meters and presents the self-service transformer calibration at the ZMP 2009 in Nuremberg.

29.04.2009

There are approx. 40 million electricity meters in Germany. They have to be verified at regular intervals. The test equipment used for that must in turn be tested by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). With the introduc-tion of the new electronic domestic supply meters, many test centres have to acquire isolating transformers, which up to now have had to be sent to PTB for testing. PTB has now developed a measuring method with which the test cen-tres can test the isolating transformers independently. PTB experts will present the new method at the Zählen - Messen - Prüfen (ZMP) Fair (Metering Fair) from 18 to 19 May in Nuremberg. In addition, they offer an approval consulting for electricity manufacturers and users, which will be based on the current legal provision.
