Die Quantenkommunikation verspricht eine abhörsichere Übertragung von Informationen. Die quantenbasierte Schlüsselverteilung ist dabei weit erforscht und inzwischen reif für die Anwendung. Im Innovationshub für Quantenkommunikation fördert das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) 36 Einrichtungen, um Forschungsinstitute und Unternehmen zu vernetzen. Das begleitende Schirmprojekt (SQuaD) wird von der PTB in engem Schulterschluss mit dem Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI) koordiniert. Es bringt Akteure aus Forschung und Industrie zusammen und erweitert Testumgebungen für die Quantenkommunikationstechnologie. Die PTB setzt sich als Arbeitgeberin für die gezielte Förderung von Frauen ein. Ziel ist es, die Sichtbarkeit von Frauen in Führungspositionen zu erhöhen und deren Vernetzung und Erfahrungsaustausch zu fördern. Anlässlich des Internationalen Tages für Frauen und Mädchen in der Wissenschaft lud PTB-Präsidentin Cornelia Denz zum Frauen-Netzwerktreffen ein. In zwangloser Atmosphäre bot es Gelegenheit zu Erfahrungsaustausch und Diskussion.

Evaluations

Evaluation report (in Geman only) — Stand: Januar 2012

In 2002, PTB as a whole was evaluated – with an excellent outcome. In 2008, an evaluation of PTB research followed, carried out by the Wissenschaftsrat (German Council of Science and Humanities) with a subsequent Implementation Report in 2012. The next evaluation will follow in 2016.
