Während seines heutigen Besuchs der Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig wird Bundesminister Robert Habeck ein weiteres Gebäude des Kompetenzzentrums Windenergie eröffnen. Dort steht die weltweit größte Anlage, mit der erstmals die enormen Drehmomente, die insbesondere bei Offshore Windkraftanlagen auftreten, mit höchster Genauigkeit zuverlässig vermessen werden können.

Hier ticken alle richtig: In der Uhrenhalle der Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt erzeugen Atomuhren und optische Uhren die genauesten Sekundenticks der Welt. Davon konnte sich Falko Mohrs, Niedersachsens Minister für Wissenschaft und Kultur (SPD), bei einem scherzhaften „Uhrenvergleich“ in Braunschweig überzeugen.

In 2002, PTB as a whole was evaluated – with an excellent outcome. In 2008, an evaluation of PTB research followed, carried out by the Wissenschaftsrat (German Council of Science and Humanities) with a subsequent Implementation Report in 2012.
