„Atoms and Photons for Quantum Information and Communication"

Atoms and Photons for Quantum Information and Communication

Driven by various applications, e.g. in quantum communication, the field of photonic quantum information and communication technologies is developing rapidly. However, further basic research is needed to exploit their potential. Taking satellite-based quantum key distribution as an example, photonic quantum memories and compatible quantum light sources can be identified as the components with the largest research gap.

I present our latest results on the experimental realization of these components and show first steps towards the integration of these very different physical model systems. Potential additional applications of these key technologies in quantum computing and optical neuromorphic computing architectures will be outlined.
