Motion in 4D Flow MRI

Kolloquium der Abteilung 8

4D Flow MRI has made great technical advances in the last years making the technique more and more available for clinical applications. Several hurdles however remain in order to make 4D Flow MRI a robust, accurate and comparatively fast technique. One challenge is breathing motion which is known to cause artefacts when not adequately compensated for. My presentation will shortly introduce 4D Flow MRI, its advantages and show several clinical applications. I will then detail the causes hampering 4D Flow to be applied more widely, focusing on the physiological motion during 4D Flow acquisitions and potential techniques to compensate or make use and extract additional information out of it.
