“Innovation in biomagnetism: Room-temperature magnetic flux sensor array for MCG and real-time processing for neurofeedback using MEG”

Room-temperature magnetic sensors with improved resolution such as fluxgate and magnetoresistance (MR) sensors are becoming applicable for the detection of weak biomagnetic fields. Although their resolution is still inferior to SQUID sensors, the flexibility in the sensor arrangement and proximity to the magnetic sources are a large advantage. We demonstrate the sensor array to collect the magnetocardiographic signals simultaneously from both the front and the lateral sides of the body.

In recent years, there has been increased interest in the development of applications that harness brain activity, such as brain-machine interfaces (BMI) and neurofeedback (NFB). For this we developed a new data acquisition system aimed at the real-time signal processing as an add-on for a conventional MEG. Some demonstrations of real-time signal processing of MEG signal will be presented.
