“MRI-based Fluid Flow Measurements for Engineering Sciences - Accurate and Precise Measurement of 3D Flow Velocities“

Kolloquium der Abteilung 8

For some years, the measurement of technical flows using magnetic resonance imaging has received increasing attention. So far, however, access to MRI scanners has been difficult and the usual clinical sequences for measuring velocity distributions have been developed with regard to medical or patient-comfort-related aspects. At the Institute of Fluid Mechanics, a globally unique laboratory for the further development of existing and new methods in the field of measurement of technical and non-technical flows using MRI has been set up. The centerpiece is a clinical full-body MRI scanner around which an infrastructure is being developed that will open up entirely new application areas. The talk will cover the status quo of the methods and current development tasks in this lab.
