EOS Prize 2022 for the best paper published in the period 2020-2022

07.10.2022

The paper “Round robin comparison study on the form measurement of optical freeform surfaces." Journal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications 16.1 (2020): 1-15”, written by Ines Fortmeier1, Reyko Schachtschneider2, Vit Ledl3, Ondrej Matousek3, Jens Siepmann4, Antonia Harsch5, Rolf Beisswanger5, Youichi Bitou6, Yohan Kondo6, Michael Schulz1 and Clemens Elster2 was awarded with the EOS Prize 2022. The EOS Prize is awarded for the best paper published in the open access online journal of the EOS (JEOS:RP) jeos.edpsciences.org. It has been selected amongst the articles published in the period 2020-2022 based on its impact and quality. The prize was handed out during the European Optical Society Annual Meeting, EOSAM, held 12-16 September 2022 in Porto, Portugal.

The paper describes a round robin comparison study of freeform form measurements, which was carried out by the project partners and stakeholders of the European metrology research project “15SIB01: FreeFORM” within the EMPIR programme. Altogether six measuring instruments were considered: five different (pointwise and areal) optical devices and one tactile device.
