The Si-kg workshop addressed to invited National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) and Designated Institutes (DIs) and illustrated the dissemination of the SI unit kilogram via silicon spheres.
It was a great pleasure to meet with almost 100 NMI representatives and mass experts from 44 countries.
Besides oral presentations, leading managers and operators from all around the world were provided with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in handling Si spheres. This included cleaning, weighing on mass comparators, transportation and safekeeping, among other things. In addition, a new approach for realizing the kilogram via natural silicon spheres was introduced.
