Within the scope of the development cooperation of the Federal Government, PTB supports the setting up of a quality infrastructure (QI) in developing and newly industrialized countries with the goal of promoting economic development and strengthening environmental, health and consumer protection in order to create preconditions for sustainable development. In detail, this means:

        • Working out QI concepts

        • Implementing quality infrastructure projects on behalf of the Bundesministerium für 
          wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) (Federal Ministry for Economic
          Cooperation and Development)

        • Cooperation with international, regional and national QI organizations and institutions.

Goal of the projects:  
Setting up a capable quality infrastructure in developing and newly industrialized countries, adapting the structures in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) and GUS states to the conditions of a free market economy

Implementation:  
Consulting by specialists of PTB and other institutions, further education and training, seminars and internships, providing equipment and technical literature, comparison measurements and calibrations, assistance in setting up technical infrastructures, accreditation of laboratories.
