Legal metrology and technology transfer

Tasks
 
The department's task area covers legal metrology, conformity assessment, certification and technology transfer and is regulated by national and European requirements and standards.

Main tasks are:
  • co-ordination of legal metrology in PTB
  • operation of a PTB Certification Body
    • notified body 0102 based on European Directives 2004/22/EC, 2009/23/EC, 2006/42/EC, 94/9/EC
    • type approval authority according to the Verification Act, Proof Testing Act and Weapons Act
    • certification body according to the IECEx-system and the OIML certification system
    • technology transfer of PTB's research and development results
    • co-operation in national and international bodies (DIN, European Commission, WELMEC, OIML, NoBoMet)
    • political consulting concerning legal metrology, conformity assessment and technology transfer
    • co-ordination of communication of the German notified bodies (on the basis of European Directives 2004/22/EC and 2009/23/EC)
