Tasks

To act as a link between PTB and the general public: this is the task of the Press and Information Office (PÖ). PÖ thus holds a boundary position, also in the PTB's organizational structure. This attempt at establishing links is directed at both, very specific groups (e.g. experts visiting fairs) and – in particular – each individual, from the journalist to the citizen, who wants to obtain information about PTB. The roles which the Press and Information Office plays and of which the general public becomes aware range from an exhibitor at technical fairs to the body looking after visitors to the PTB premises, from the editor of publications in the field of metrology to the scientific journalist for print and web. Within this framework, the Press and Information Office sees itself as an active information broker, and it always tries to have the status of a correspondent as independent as possible.
