Neutron metrology

Tasks
- Realization and characterisation of calibration fields with monoenergetic neutrons in the energy range En between 1.2 keV and 20 MeV
- Characterisation of neutron calibration fields at external facilities:
- iThemba, Cape Fown: quasi-monoenergetic neutrons (60 MeV < En < 200 MeV)
- Realization of calibration fields for high energy photons (Eγ > 3 MeV)
- Determination of the (spectral) neutron fluence
- Calculation of the neutron energy distribution from neutron producing targets
- Monte Carlo simulation of experiments
- Participation in international comparisons
- Irradiations and calibrations of detectors and dosemeters in (quasi-) monoenergetic neutron fields and in neutron fields with broad energy distributions (Be+p, Be+d)
- Development and investigation of neutron detectors and calculation of their energy dependent response
- Production and characterisation of neutron fields for radio-biological experiments
